Hi, I’m Sam. Welcome to Style of Change! I created this blog to express myself, share my ideas, and inspire others. Here, you can follow my style adventures, receive weekly doses of positivity, read about my life experiences, and gain a new perspective on issues that are important to me. While I love exploring my personal style and enjoying other hobbies, I am a giver at heart, and I understand that there are problems in the community and the world that are bigger than my own personal struggles. I also use this blog to provide my opinion on issues that are close to my heart and share how you can get involved to make a difference.
Just a small town girl…
I am currently 20 years old, and I am in college studying Advertising and Public Relations. I was born in a little beach town in Florida, but at 18, I left the nest to move to the city and begin my collegiate studies. Call me a nerd, but I love school. I’ve always been passionate about my education. After I complete my bachelor’s, I plan on pursuing a graduate degree. We’ll have to see where life takes me!
I am also passionate about service. In high school, I volunteered at my local art museum, which was an awesome experience. Teaching guests about the art really helped me to appreciate the exhibitions, and I felt so connected to the culture of my hometown. In my freshman year of college, I volunteered with the county school district to teach lessons to a third grade class once a week. I hadn’t ever really worked with kids before becoming a volunteer teacher, but my class was amazing and my students taught me as much as I taught them. It felt so great to inspire kids to love learning as much as I do and make them want to go to college. My passion for education only strengthened after volunteering as a third grade teacher. Communities thrive when people give back, and I plan to seek out more service opportunities in the future to stay involved.
A creative mind
Since I was young, I have always loved expressing myself. I have notebooks full of stories I wrote as a child. When I was 13, I completed a 60,000 word draft of a novel. (It wasn’t good, but I still consider it an accomplishment!) Whether it’s writing, crafting, designing, or exploring personal style, I always find a creative outlet. I can’t go a single day without creating. I am very excited to use this blog to share my creations with all of you!
